Expert Dr. Dennis Blanton presents to program attendees about Hernando de Soto in southern Georgia at the Moultrie Library’s auditorium.

The Moultrie-Colquitt County Library System is a place for people to connect with resources, ideas, the community, and even the past. MCCLS consists of the Moultrie Library, the Odom Genealogy Library, the Doerun Municipal Library, and – coming soon – the mobile library known as RoLi (Roving Library), which will provide outreach services across Colquitt County with a new, state-of-the-art vehicle.

MCCLS is part of Georgia’s statewide PINES network, which includes over 300 libraries covering 146 counties. PINES cardholders enjoy a shared collection of 10.6 million books and other materials that can be delivered to their home library free of charge. Cardholders can also download the free PINES app, where they can place holds, check their due dates, and renew their items. The library’s local collection contains more than 120,000 books, magazines, audiobooks, DVDs, learning tablets, ukuleles, and Chromebooks, as well as passes to Chehaw Park, ZooAtlanta, Georgia State Parks, and other Georgia attractions. Both the Moultrie and Doerun Libraries have public computers with access to printing and 24/7 WiFi availability with no password required. The Moultrie Library offers fax and notary services for a small fee.

The programs and spaces offered by MCCLS give people ways to connect with the library and with each other. Friendly and knowledgeable staff are available to help with finding books, accessing ebooks with the free Libby app, tech support, and more. The Moultrie Library has an auditorium, a classroom, and two study rooms that can be reserved for group meetings of various sizes. MCCLS hosts programs for all ages year-round, including weekly storytimes for babies and preschoolers, a monthly crafting club and book club for adults, and a monthly ukulele club for ages 5 and up. MCCLS hosts other special events and programs throughout the year, including the popular summer reading program with exciting performers and fun reading incentives enjoyed by kids and adults alike.

The Ellen Payne Odom Genealogy Library, an approved AAA attraction, is a destination for genealogy researchers all over the country.

The Odom Library collects, preserves, and organizes materials for research covering Colquitt County, the state of Georgia, and the Southeastern United States. It is also the archival home for more than 130 Scottish clans and family associations. MCCLS was recently named a FamilySearch Affiliate Library, which allows those visiting the Moultrie or Doerun libraries to access the largest collection of free family history, family tree, and genealogy records in the world.
