Local voters prefer Walker Staff Reports

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Colquitt County certified its votes Monday from last week’s Senate runoff election.

After confirming provisional ballots, county election officials added four votes to Herschel Walker’s total and one vote to Raphael Warnock’s compared to totals released on the evening of Dec. 6.

The new totals are Walker 8,678 votes (75.66%) to Warnock’s 2,791 votes (24.34%)

Warnock has been declared the winner of the runoff with 51.37% of the vote statewide. As of about 3 p.m. Monday, 51 of the state’s 159 counties’ results had not been certified, according to the Georgia Secretary of State’s website, but their unofficial results are included in the statewide vote total.

Statewide, 50.51% of registered voters cast ballots. The percentage was slightly lower in Colquitt County, where 11,478 of the 24,869 registered voters voted (46.15%).
