To close the day, John Benning DAR hosted the playing of Taps at sunset at the War Memorial on the Courthouse Square. Dennis Irby, a retired veteran of both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Air Force Band, played the heart-felt rendition of the traditional memorial song.

MOULTRIE, Ga. — The traditional Memorial Day gathering at Cobb Funeral Chapel was canceled due to concerns about COVID-19, but members of the American Legion decorated graves of veterans there anyway. Small commemorations, some of them private, were also held elsewhere on Monday.
