THOMASVILLE — Two additional Southern Pines residents have been diagnosed with the coronavirus.

The two residents diagnosed earlier and those diagnosed more recently are patients at Archbold Memorial Hospital.

In all four cases, patients diagnosed with the virus were transported from Southern  Pines to Archbold for reasons other than virus suspicions. All tested positive at Archbold.

The four infected Southern Pines residents will complete the 14-day isolation period in their private rooms at Southern Pines.

The four are stable enough to be sent home to make room for other Archbold patients, said Christy Ridenhower, Southern Pines executive director.

“Our four are doing well,” Ridenhower said. “Once the 14 days are over, they will shelter in place like all other Southern Pines residents.”

Southern Pines is able to test residents for the virus.

“We are in the process of testing everyone here and not waiting for symptoms,” Ridenhower said. “We’re being pro-active.”

Residents’ temperatures are taken three to four times daily.
