THOMASVILLE — Marguerite Neel Williams Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Georgia and Second Harvest of South Georgia’s Thomasville Branch have teamed up to offer free evening meals to youth ages 3-18 during the school closure.

Beginning Wednesday, March 25, a drive-through pick-up meal opportunity will be provided weekdays from 4:30-6:30 p.m. or while supplies last. MNWBGC’s Youth Center parking lot located at 219 Fletcher St. in Thomasville will serve as the location. All youth in need of a meal must be in the vehicle at the time of pick-up.

“We are pleased to help those in need here at the Boys & Girls Club and we’re grateful to Second Harvest for their willingness in participate in this project,” said Lee Wagner, MNWBGC executive director. “Even before the coronavirus pandemic, a lot of parents and families throughout our community were in need of assistance with various issues. Unfortunately, the need for assistance became greater as a result of the coronavirus. Perhaps assistance with feeding children in need will be one less thing that parents and families have to worry about for now.”

Any parent of a youth between the ages of 3-18 in Thomasville-Thomas County is eligible to receive a meal.

“Helping others is part of who we are as an organization and as caring citizens,” Wagner continued. “It’s important for us to remain a resource for parents and youth throughout  our community regardless of whether or not we are in the midst of a major health crisis like COVID-19 or not.”
