Thomas University announced Monday that two events will be postponed due to concerns about COVID-19.

Casino Night, which was scheduled for Saturday, March 21, at the Grady Cultural Center in Cairo, will now be held on Saturday, May 16. 

Dining for Education 70th Anniversary Celebration — which was set for Thursday, March 26, at Glen Arven Country Club in Thomasville — also has been postponed. The new date for this event will be scheduled soon. 

“We just felt like this was the right action to take given the CDC’s recommendations on COVID-19,” said Kurt Stringfellow, TU’s vice president for Institutional Advancement. “These are going to be great events when they take place, and we look forward to having them after this public health issue has passed.”

Issues related to COVID-19 extended to TU’s Athletics as well.

Today the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), which includes Thomas University, announced that it is canceling all sports for the remainder of spring semester. This means the TU sports teams will not compete any more this spring.
