Walker named to National Society of High School Scholars

MOULTRIE, Ga. — The National Society of High School Scholars recently announced Tyler A. Walker of Moultrie has been selected to become a member of the esteemed organization.

The society recognizes top scholars who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, scholarship and community commitment, according to a release from NSHSS. 

The announcement was made by NSHSS founder and chairman Claes Nobel, senior member of the family that established the Nobel Prizes.

“On behalf of NSHSS, I am honored to recognize the hard work, sacrifice and commitment that Tyler has demonstrated to achieve this exceptional level of academic excellence,” Nobel said. “Tyler is now a member of a unique community of scholars — a community that represents our very best hope for the future.”

Walker is the son of Frank Walker Jr. and Tamekia Sumlin. He has three young siblings, sisters Frankie Walker and Tiara Willis and brother Treston Willis.

He is an honor student at Colquitt County High School, where he is involved in football and basketball. He has earned several awards in sports, his mother said, and recently signed with the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he has received a full, four-year scholarship. 

At UTC, Walker plans to pursue a major in sports management.
