MOULTRIE, Ga. — The American Cancer Society (ACS) is asking community members to be part of the world’s largest peer-to-peer fundraising event to save lives from cancer by participating in the Relay For Life of Colquitt County on Friday, April 24, at Colquitt County Agricultural Complex.

The Relay For Life movement unites 2.5 million participants globally to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer, according to a press release from the American Cancer Society.

National Cancer Prevention Month is observed in February each year, the ACS said.

“One of the most overlooked ways to fight cancer is to take action and adopt behaviors that help to prevent cancer,” the group said in a press release. “That’s why cancer prevention is such an important part of the American Cancer Society’s work. We have already seen progress with a 29% decline in cancer mortality since 1991. Funds raised through Relay For Life go to help support continued education in all communities on how to prevent cancer and how early detection saves lives.”

To find out more about the Relay For Life of Colquitt County and how its teams are making a difference, join volunteers at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at the First United Methodist Fellowship Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend for information on registering a team.
