Guest speaker
Norman Grove Missionary Baptist Church will be having a special guest speaker at 11:15 a.m. Sunday Feb. 9, Minister Clinton F. Harris. A native of Moultrie he is the son of the late Floyd (Buddy) and the late Ethel Hightower of Moultrie.
He accepted the call into the ministry in 2013, and he’s now a minister at New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Miami, Fla., under the leadership of the Rev. D.L. Powell. While serving at New Shiloh, he has served as a Sunday school teacher and is involved in the mission, men, minister and prison ministries.
He received an associate degree in the ministry from Jacksonville Baptist Seminar School of Jacksonville, Fla.
He has been married to Sister Annie Harris for 22 years.
The Rev. Lamar Corbin is the pastor of Norman Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Downtown meeting
The Downtown Moultrie Association will meet at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, on the second floor of Moultrie City Hall, 21 First Ave. N.E.
Items to discuss include changes to the alcohol
ordinance, Second Saturdays, Ladies Night Out on March 5, sidewalk sales on March 21, Spring Fling and Backyard BBQ Festival in April, and updates on the camera system, South Main parking lot and more.
Food will be served.
Homeschoolers
The Moultrie Community of Classical Conversations, a classical education resource for Christian homeschoolers, will hold an open information meeting for interested parents at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Beans and Strings, 19 First St. S.E. in Moultrie.
CC is used by homeschoolers in all 50 states and 15 foreign countries. It now has more than 130,000 students enrolled in its tutoring programs, which are provided by almost 2,500 CC communities.
