MOULTRIE, Ga. — Friday will mark the 29th Annual Hunt Dinner at the Colquitt County Arts Center. Beginning in 1991, Holly Duggan Beard, the former director of the Arts Center, and supporter of the arts Beverly Adcock cooked up the idea as a new fundraiser for the Arts Center.

“It is hosted by the Volunteer Arts Alliance and is the largest fundraiser on behalf of the Art Center,” said Director Connie Fritz. “The event began 29 years ago, and at the time the dinner consisted of wild game collected and donated from local hunters in the area, and a group of volunteers spent a few days cooking and preparing the dishes, but over the years we have begun to rely on catering rather than local hunters. The dishes still consist of wild game, however.”

The Silent Auction will take place during the social hour prior to the dinner and the Live Auction will take place prior to the dinner. The Silent Auction will offer original artworks, admission to a fun mystery experience and  a dinner for 10. The Live Auction will include items like private quail hunts or a trip for eight to Telluride, Colo. 

There will also be a raffle and tickets can be purchased for $10 each for a chance at $1,000, $500 and $250 cash prizes; you don’t have to be present to win the raffle. Hunt attire and winter wear are appropriate for the dinner.

All proceeds from ticket sales will be used to support the programs and performances of the Art Center. The dinner will take place at 5:30 in the evening. Tickets to the event are $75.
