LETTER TO THE EDITOR: BOE’s worst waste was in firing Propst

Doug Howell’s convoluted defense and unwarranted criticism of the whistleblower on the board of education’s tire deal lacks credibility. Too much smoke and mirrors!
This area’s most professional and productive football coach in over 100 years was given whatever he asked of the board and no one questioned their decisions to spend taxpayers’ dollars to support football.
Alas, the waste was in Howell’s charge to vilify and fire Coach Propst. I attended every public meeting in reference to fallout and defense of their turnaround. It was pathetic. No mention was made of Howell’s interference by arbitrarily canceling Propst’s sequestration of his football team each night preceding home games. It was very successful albeit expensive. Visiting teams (AKA losers) cringed to come here.
Bottom line is that Coach Propst braced Howell and confronted the issue of his nefarious and secret act. Howell’s feelings were hurt and he led his rubber stamp board to fire Propst at the end of the 2018 season.
Coach Propst is now in possession of a sweetheart deal to build a program from scratch in Alabama and we’re stuck with the dismantled remnants of Propst’s program. Was the waste in building facilities or was it in doing an about-face due to hurt feelings?
Come to 2020 home games and see all visitors enjoying payback!
