Free speech, not suppression
“If you object to the editorial page, don’t read it. I salute The Moultrie Observer’s editorial page. Some countries don’t allow editorial pages, or allow only one political side to use it. Do you prefer that? Perhaps you disagree with the opinions found there and want to suppress those opinions. This country is about freedom of speech, not suppression. Remember?”
Editorial page must be working
“Politics tends to be one sided; that’s the nature of the beast. Any disagreement with what’s on the editorial page isn’t cause to remove it from the newspaper. What’s written on the editorial page is there to make you think … and since you disagree with what you’ve read, maybe the editorial page is … Viola! … working!”
We’re more interested in impeachment than local
“The impeachment hearing has even the people in Moultrie voicing their opinion, but will not attend a local government meeting. Whatever happens in Washington isn’t up to you, but what happens in Moultrie is. While you are worrying about something going on thousands of miles away, You can’t take the time to worry about what’s happening outside your door.”
