The energy from the weekend could be felt like electricity in the air as we began praise songs led by our Disciple Now (DNow) Worship Band this past Sunday. For three days, the youth of the community joined the students of First Baptist Moultrie for worship, Bible study, discussion break out groups, food, and fun here at church and in host homes. The events of the weekend culminated in our energetic worship service Sunday morning, with our sermon taught by Jeremy Pearson. There was hardly an empty seat in the place as we openly praised and intently listened as the Word was preached and connected to our hearts and lives.
With DNow laying a firm foundation toward our 2020 community involvement, we have another great opportunity to reach out this week as we partner with Mt. Olive Baptist Church on Wednesday evening, January 29, for a combined worship service. Beginning with prayer at Mt. Olive at 5:00pm, the event will then continue over here at First Baptist Moultrie for supper at 5:45pm and the service led by Pastor Andy Cashwell of Mt. Olive and Pastor Matt Peek of FBC Moultrie at 6:30pm. All other regular church activities for that Wednesday night will be cancelled, including our First KIDZ mid-week meeting. However, childcare up to 3 years old will be available.
Speaking of kids, we have so much fun in store for them over the next several months. This week, our Mom & Son Survival Night kicks off on Friday night at 6:00pm with food, fun, games, and more. Pre-register a spot for you and your 4-yr old through 5th grade son on our website at firstmoultrie.org/ministries/children. Then, the girls get to have fun during our Daddy Daughter Date Night on February 6th starting at 6:30pm in our Social Hall. The cost is $5 at the door per person for 1st through 5th grade girls and their dads. In March, the gents get to connect with nature and each other for our Father & Son Bonfire event on the 6th beginning at 6:30pm. All boys of all ages and their dads are invited.
For upcoming events this week besides our regular Connect Group Small Group classes this morning at 9:15am and the worship service at 10:30am, the LeFevre Quartet joins us tonight for a 6:00pm free concert in our sanctuary. We also kick off Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University for over 30 people tonight at 5:30pm. Our Keenager Senior Adults Luncheon starts back up again this Tuesday in our Social Hall. And it isn’t even February yet! We are having so much fun as we wrap up January and quickly head into the second month of 2020. We have already added five new members to our numbers in just the first month alone, and can’t wait to see what the rest of this year has in store.
With feeling the much cooler weather this week, it’s hard to even think about summer. Yet, our summer camp schedule is already in the works. With camps coming for kids and students, it’s not too early to start planning and budgeting. The week of June 8-12, our students will be at Impact Camp while the 1st – 5th graders will be at Willie J. Williams Middle School for WinShape Camp. The next month, CentriKid for kids and Fuge/MFuge for students hit the same week of July 6-10. It will be here before we know it!
We talk a lot about ways you can get connected and involved with First Baptist Church of Moultrie. But what’s most important is you. It’s because of you that we are here and do what we do in Moultrie, Colquitt County, and beyond, in ministering and sharing the Good News to the lost and hurting among us. We love you and value you because He first loved us. You are invited to join us any time to grow in your faith through loving connections.
