Propst was the Packers head coach from 2008-2018, posting a 119-35-0 record and winning state championships in 2014 and 2015.

He also led Colquitt County to state championship games in 2010, 2017 and 2018.

But Propst did not coach last season after being dismissed by the Colquitt County Board of Education last spring following an investigation that led School Superintendent Doug Howell to conclude that he had violated five standards of the Georgia Code of Ethics.

His case was turned over to the state’s Professional Standards Commission, which in July made a probable cause determination in the case.

Propst appealed the decsion. The PSC has not yet ruled on the appeal.

Propst will be returning to the state where he had his first success, coaching at Ashville, Eufaula, Alba, Alma Bryant and Hoover high schools before coming to Georgia. He led Hoover to five state championships and has a 295-96 career record. It has been reported that he was a volunteer consultant  at UAB last season.

According to its website, “Ultimate Student Athlete’s Mission is to seek exceptionally promising student athletes of all backgrounds from across the nation and around the world and to educate them through mental discipline, physical discipline and athletic experience.”

The private school for students in grades 7 through 12 is expected to open Friday and will soon begin construction on its football facility and stadium.

The school apparently will be similar to the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

The 19,000-square-foot facility will overlook a 5,000-seat stadium.

There are also plans for an indoor practice facility and a dormitory to house student-athletes.
