CAIRO — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into an early Sunday morning shooting that resulted in the death of one man.

According to the GBI, Cairo Police contacted the GBI on Sunday at approximately 1:25 a.m. for help with a homicide investigation. GBI agents and a crime scene specialist arrived on the 1200 block of Calvary Road to help Cairo officers.

The GBI’s initial investigation revealed that two male family members got into an argument that escalated. Eventually, one of the men shot the other, and the victim died from his injuries at a local hospital. 

An autopsy is scheduled for early this week to help determine further details related to the death. No charges have been filed against anyone at this time.
