Bell leads middle school swim team

MOULTRIE – Lynnsey Bell had a pair of first-place finishes to help lead the Colquitt County middle school swim team to a third-place finish in Wednesday’s Coffee Middle School Invitation in Douglas.
The Colquitt County boys were sixth. In the combined team scores, Colquitt County was fourth among the six teams competing.
Tift County finished first among the girls teams. Coffee was first among the boys teams and was first in the combined team scores.
Bell won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.46 and also took the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:01.40.
She also swam on the 200-yard freestyle relay team that placed second and on the 200-yard medley relay team that placed fourth.
Also on those relay teams were Rylie Everson, Hannah Huante and Norah McGill.
Everson took a third-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke and was fifth in the 100-yard freestyle.
Huante tied for third in the 100-yard freestyle event and was fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke.
McGill had a fourth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle.
Also competing for the middle school girls swim team on Wednesday were Jaina Turner, Anna Brooke Rowley, Kate Jimmerson, Katherine Springman and Marina Perez.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of J.T. Underwood, Jack Taunton, Nick Merdian and Carter Newman turned in the best performance for the boys team when it placed third.
Underwood also was fifth in the 50-yard freestyle and was sixth in the 100-yard freestyle.
Newman was fifth in the 100-yard freestyle.
Jack Jimmerson also swam for the boys team.
