MOULTRIE, Ga. — At Tuesday’s County Commissioners work meeting, the board recognized Pastor Wayne Woods of First Baptist Church.

Originally from Wadley, Ala., Woods has been the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Moultrie since 2009 and is stepping down effective this month. Commissioner Paul Nagy, a member of Woods’ church, presented him with a framed certificate of the commission’s proclamation in his honor.

“It’s been an honor serving the community,” said Woods. “Thank you for accepting me and my family into your community.”

There will be a retirement celebration on Dec. 8 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the First Baptist Church.

The board also accepted a grant for the Language Access Plan, which would help community members speaking English as a second language when they deal with county offices. Based on census data, Colquitt County has been identified as a community that would benefit from this government-funded plan; if a community member needs a translator or other arrangement to assist them with county services, the access plan enables the county to provide the resources they need.
