EDITORIAL: Share your holiday decorations with us

With Thanksgiving behind us, the Christmas season is free to begin in earnest. Driving home from celebrations Thursday night, we saw several houses already decorated for the holiday season.

The most iconic light show in South Georgia, of course, is the Canopy of Lights over downtown Moultrie, which was turned on Thursday night in the annual Lights! Lights! celebration. Photos from the lighting are on today’s front page, and look for more on our website, moultrieobserver.com.

Also on today’s front page is a story about The Kirkland Family, who have decorated their Third Street Southeast home for years and welcomed the public to see their work. In addition, they’re accepting donations to help a family in need.

Starting with those two displays, The Observer is publishing its Christmas Lights list in today’s newspaper. We have published a similar list for literally decades, letting the community know where they can go to view holiday decorations.

The list enables our readers to drive around the area to see the beautiful displays.

If your home or business is decorated for the holidays, please let us know. Call 985-4545 or email moultrie.observer@gaflnews.com to have your address added to the list.

We expect the list to publish in each edition between now and Christmas, growing as more people call in. It will also be posted on our website and mentioned on our Facebook page.
