Moultrie and Colquitt County have much to be thankful for this year.

The City of Moultrie has announced a significant reduction in major crimes over the last two years.

While the Colquitt County High School Packers didn’t make it to the championship, they drove well into the playoffs, which is pretty impressive under a new head coach.

The CCHS band is representing our community this week in the Dunkin’ Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade in Philadelphia.

Looking through back issues of The Observer finds many positive things going on in the community.

But when asked, Observer readers emphasized their gratitude for personal things — the huge things that seldom make the newspaper but contribute so much to an individual’s well-being.

The Observer raised the question late last week, “What are you thankful for?” Here are five responses from our Facebook page:

“I’m thankful for my salvation, my family and my country.” — Jack Massey.

“My husband and 3 children God has blessed me with is what I’m thankful for, along with our health and happiness! My family and my friends as well!” — Pamela Michelle Tomberlin.

“For being alive and for my family and friends and for how God is blessing!” — Loretta Deloach Carter.

“I am thankful for the love and peace I feel in my heart from accepting Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I’m thankful for my family, friends and good health.” — Donna Sprayberry.

“I am thankful that God allowed me to have my sister for 53 years. I truly miss her but God took her sickness and pain away forever! — Debra S. Robinson.
