MPD names 2 to leadership positions

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Moultrie Police Chief Sean Ladson recently announced the promotions of two members of the Moultrie Police Department.

Freddie Williams was promoted to field operations commander and Michael Cox was promoted to deputy chief.

Cox has worked in law enforcement for 15 years, according to a press release from the city. He has worked with the Fitzgerald Police Department, Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office, and currently the MPD. Before his promotion, Cox was lieutenant over the Patrol Division.

Williams is a native of the Moultrie-Doerun area and has been with the Moultrie Police Department for 12 years. Williams has worked in every division of the police department, and before his promotion, he was in charge of the Criminal Investigations Division. Last year, Williams graduated from Waldorf University with a Bachelor of Science degree.
