MOULTRIE, Ga. — Grant Chapel A.M.E. Church, 318 W. Central Ave., will celebrate its 150th church anniversary at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17.

The theme will be “Serving the Present Age,” and the speaker will be the Rev. Lewis Logan III of Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church in Douglas, Ga.

The church began under a brush arbor in 1870 with a few faithful and dedicated African-Americans recently emerged from slavery, the church said. A wooden structure was erected in 1904, about 100 yards from the present site, and in 1908 the present site was purchased.
