MOULTRIE, Ga. — Students from Kawana Mullins’ second grade class hold up bookmarks they made as part of activities to kick off literacy initiatives at Stringfellow Elementary School.
Students in grades 1-5 took part in a literacy carousel that included Accelerated Reader, an introduction to the “Pizza Hut Book It” program, creating bookmarks, and shopping at the Scholastic Bookfair.
Students enjoyed listening to stories through songs, chants, and traditional storytelling, and then finished the day with a whole school assembly to learn about student reading awards and incentives that will encourage them to read daily, the school said.
