Some thoughts on the homeless in San Francisco, California and throughout our country. Randy Vining, has been on the road living in various modes of  transport, without bounds for forty years — he has written his story, “Forty Years A  Nomad” and posted interviews on “U” Tube.

Randy quotes Henry David Thoreau, “live frugally and live free.” Randy has a stash of food for security — in case the  world falls apart, “security is important” — while living his life free of social  constraints,(no desires beyond living  freely).

Helen Keller had thoughts on  security, she wrote, “Security is mostly superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it, avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either daring adventure or nothing.”

To live a life free of fear and responsibility would not be my choice — a legacy of accomplishment is more in line with a well lived existence.
