MOULTRIE, Ga. — Five men were arrested Sept. 11 and 13 in connection with a string of armed robberies, most of them targeting the Hispanic community.

• Cerdrick Tirise Barge, 22, 313 Sixth Street S.E., was charged Sept. 13 with two counts of criminal gang activity, six counts of armed robbery, intimidation and taking control of substance,  three counts of possession of a firearm or knife while trying to commit crimes, three counts of aggravated assault, two counts of home invasion and possession of arms by convicted felons.

• Wai’quan Demond Nowell, 24, 814 Third Avenue N.W., was charged Sept. 11 with four counts of criminal gang activity, three counts of home invasion, five counts of armed robbery, intimidation and taking control of substance, five counts of possession of arms by convicted felon and thirty counts of aggravated assault.

• Ronald West, 24, 166 Pineridge Road, was charged Sept. 11 with four counts of criminal gang activity, two counts of home invasion, four counts of aggravated assault, two counts of possession of arms by a convicted felon, five counts of armed robbery, intimidation and taking control of substance and three counts of possession of a knife or firearm while trying to commit crimes.

• Dontae Rashawn Barfield, 22, 3245 Seventh Place N.W., was charged Sept. 15 with aggravated assault, criminal gang activity, possession of a firearm or knife while trying to commit crimes and home invasion.

• Raheim Jamal Carter, 19, 1211 Elliot Brown Street Apt 4, was charged Sept. 14 with two counts of home invasion, five counts of armed robbery, two counts of criminal gang activity, two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm or knife while trying to commit crimes.

The robberies took place the week of Sept. 9, Colquitt County Sheriff’s Investigator Austin Cannon said, and they’ve been linked to multiple incidents originating back to several months ago that had similar modus operandi.

Cannon said evidence linked West, Nowell, Barfield, Barge and Carter to at least four robberies, and investigators believe they could have been involved in others.

The five have been affiliated with a local gang, he said, and the investigation is continuing to see if other people might have been involved.
