Magnolia Garden Club meets

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Magnolia Garden Club met in September at the home of Grace O’Kelley. A light lunch was enjoyed by the group. Ruby Bowermeister shared a short devotion and a blessing for the meal.
Faye Rowe opened the meeting with a warm welcome to the members and pledge to the flag.
Poster winner, Annaliese Spradley, of GEAR, won 1st Place, 3rd Grade Level, at the National Smokey Bear Poster Contest, received $50 and was featured in the National Garden Club Magazine. Magnolia Garden Club sponsored the contest.
Magnolia Garden Club is sponsoring GEAR as Young Gardeners. Beth Miller and the students have landscaped the school grounds between the two school buildings.

The Gardener’s Log for September is to prune hedges and water camellias a lot. Last chance to fertilize lawns. Fertilize roses for fall blooms, divide bearded iris and daylilies and plant sweet peas and Madonna lilies.
The annual Perry Flower Show will be Oct. 3-7. The garden club will help GEAR students fill out cards preparing their entries for the show at the next meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at GEAR.
The Camellia District Fall meeting will be held in Cordele on Wednesday, Oct. 16.
The Nov. 5 meeting will be at the Eagle’s Nest Cafe in Camilla.
