MOULTRIE, Ga. — Colquitt County children read for more than 2,925 hours during the 2019 Summer Reading Program! 

Children, teens, and adults participated in Summer Reading in a variety of ways, through programming at the Moultrie Library, Doerun Library and the Bookmobile.  More than 1,700 people attended 56 events, including magicians, live animals, story times, ukulele classes, and more. 

Hands-on learning was made fun with events like the DIY Planetarium, Make-and-Take Gravity Art, UFO Spinners, and a Library Space Camp.

“Summer reading is so important because it helps prevent summer learning loss, which in turn helps kids enter the next school grade ready to learn,” said Erin Honeycutt, MCCLS Children’s Librarian.  “It also provides a resource for families to enjoy fun, educational, and free programming together during the summer months.”

The 2019 Summer Reading Program was sponsored by IFCO Seedlings.
