THOMASVILLE — Sometime after a Gordon Avenue pharmacy closed Friday and opened Monday morning, prescription drugs were taken during a burglary, according to Thomasville Police. The amount of drugs has not been determined.

“It looks like they went into the Rx safe and took prescription drugs, but we’re not sure what yet,” said Vance Wall, of Johns Creek, who owns Thomasville’s two Thomas drug stores.

The burglary was discovered when an employee arrived at work Monday at the 816 Gordon Ave. store.

On Monday morning, Thomasville Police Department detectives were processing the crime scene and looking at surveillance video from the store and from nearby buildings in an attempt to identify a suspect — “or suspects,” said Lt. Toby Knifer, TPD Criminal Investigations Division commander.

“Right now, we don’t know what we have,” Knifer said Monday morning. “We’re trying to nail down the time it happened.”

Police were in the process Monday of contacting other Thomasville pharmacies to determine if attempts has been made to enter the businesses.

Knifer said anyone who saw suspicious activity — people or vehicles — around the Gordon store during the weekend should call 911. Descriptions of clothing or vehicles would be helpful, the commander said.
