Blood drive

The American Red Cross will hold its Colquitt County Community Blood Drive from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at First United Methodist Church of Moultrie’s fellowship hall, 408 Second St. S.E.

All donors are needed. Blood products are being distributed to hospitals faster than donations are coming in, the Red Cross said in a press release. One donation can aid up to three patients. Donors can receive a $5 Amazon.com gift card.

Development meeting

The Brooks, Colquitt, Thomas, Grady, and Mitchell County Joint Development Authority will host a quarterly board meeting at noon Tuesday, Aug. 27. The meeting will be held in Mitchell County at Sweet Shlealy’s, 19 S. Scott St., Camila, Ga.

NAMI Night

Hope Edwards, care coordinator of View Point Health CME, will speak on “My Journey” at NAMI Night Aug. 5. NAMI Night, the monthly meeting of the Moultrie chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is held at First United Methodist Church fellowship hall, Fifth Avenue at Second Street Southeast in Moultrie. The educational meeting, which will include Edwards’ presentation, starts at 6, and support groups meet at 7.
