MOULTRIE, Ga. — Craig Boozer was driving back to pick up his wife when he hit her with his truck, the Georgia State Patrol said Wednesday.

The investigation into the fatal incident is still under way, the state patrol said, but some details have emerged.

Boozer and his wife, Janet Boozer, 61, had been at a bar Friday night, the GSP said. Both were intoxicated, and another man was driving them home. There was an argument between the Boozers, an agency spokesman said, and Janet Boozer slapped her husband in the back seat.

Janet Boozer got out of the car and the driver took Craig Boozer home, the GSP said.

After that, Craig Boozer got into his 2011 Toyota Tacoma and went back to look for his wife, the state patrol said.

He hit her with the pickup about 11:18 p.m. on Lower Meigs Road, the GSP said.

Craig Boozer has been charged with driving under the influence and was released on bond, a Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said on Monday.

The GSP spokesman said other charges could be filed when the investigation concludes.
