MOULTRIE, Ga. — A two-vehicle accident July 20 sent three people to Colquitt Regional Medical Center, including a child less than a year old.

Corey Jenkins, 32, Laqtoya Jenkins, 22, both of Albany, and infant Khadeja Whitfield were all treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Corey Jenkins, driving a 2011 Dodge Avenger, was traveling north on Funston-Sigsbee Road about 8:30 p.m. Herbert Carter, 66, of Moultrie, was traveling east on Millpond Road in a 2015 Dodge Journey.

The Georgia State Patrol said Carter ran the stop sign at the intersection of those two roads. The Avenger hit the Journey in the right rear with its front end.

The Journey rotated clockwise and overturned onto the driver’s side, the GSP said. Both vehicles came to an uncontrolled rest in the roadway, facing north.

All of the injured people were in the Avenger, as was 10-year-old Shaniah Kerney, of Albany, who was not hurt, the GSP said.

Carter also was unhurt.

Everyone involved was properly restrained, the state patrol said.

Carter was charged with failure to yield the right of way at an intersection, and Jenkins was charged with driving on a suspended, canceled or revoked registration.
