Church hosts back-to-school drive

VALDOSTA – Valdosta Community Church hosts its first back-to-school bash 6 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at 3937-A Bemiss Road. 

“We’re expecting a lot (of people) to come out and participate and support us,” said Angela King, an organizer.

Along with free school supplies, the bash offers free food, door prizes from area restaurants, a popcorn machine and a cotton candy machine.

Sabrina Smith of the Valdosta Police Department, motivational speaker James Gatlin and music group Dominion and Power will attend.

Todd Braswell will emcee.

“What we’re trying to do is to get into the community and help whoever we can,” King said.
