MOULTRIE, Ga. – Colquitt Regional Medical Center recently acquired a new tilt table. The tilt table, used in the cardiology department, aids in diagnosing patients who primarily deal with frequent fainting spells and lightheadedness.

Patients who come in for a tilt table test are strapped to the table. The patient starts lying on their back and then the table is tilted to a range of different angles, from 30 to 80 degrees. During the test, patients typically have an IV inserted and several different monitors attached to them to observe heart rate, blood oxygen level and blood pressure.

“The tilt table has already proven to be extremely effective,” said Colquitt Regional President and CEO Jim Matney. “We have made a strategic effort to expand cardiology services over the last few years to meet the growing demand of our patients. With a new Cath Lab, new ECHO machine, new stress treadmills, and additional equipment that allows us to perform ABI (ankle-brachial index) tests for peripheral artery disease, we are delivering on our commitment to make quality healthcare accessible in our region.”

Having this test available on-site will allow physicians to trigger the symptoms that contribute to fainting and lightheadedness all while monitoring the patient to help devise a course of treatment.

“Our patients will benefit greatly from having this tilt table at Colquitt Regional,” said Hospital Authority Chairman Maureen A. Yearta, Ed.D. “We are proud to continue adding cutting edge technology and equipment to give our patients the high quality care they deserve and expect from our hospital.”
