MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Norman Park woman was charged Tuesday in connection with a car crash in March that injured three children and herself.

Krystal Danielle Jordan, 29, 218 Middlebrooks St., Norman Park, was charged with failure to drive in a single lane, tires, reckless conduct, too fast for conditions, a seatbelt violation, reckless driving, four counts of child restraint violation, four counts of cruelty to children in the second degree, and three counts of serious injury by vehicle.

Jordan was driving about 10:43 p.m. March 3 in the 1500 block of  U.S. Highway 319, according to the Georgia State Patrol. It was dark with no street lights in that area, and the road was wet. It was cloudy but not raining at the time, the GSP report said.

Heading north, toward Norman Park from Moultrie, Jordan lost control while going around a curve, the state patrol said. Her 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer traveled across both southbound lanes of traffic before traveling onto the west shoulder. The SUV rotated, striking a ditch with its rear, then it started flipping before coming to a final rest in the yard of 1595 U.S. Highway 319.

The GSP trooper blamed the crash on slick tires.

“[Jordan] stated she didn’t know her tires were so bald,” he said in his report.

In addition to Jordan, four children were in the SUV, all in the back seat. They ranged in age from 2 to 7, and none were properly restrained, the GSP said. Three were ejected in the accident.

The report does not state whether Jordan is the children’s mother, but all lived at the same address and two of the four share her last name.

The trooper’s report said the three who were ejected suffered injuries that were believed to be serious. One was taken by Colquitt EMS to Colquitt Regional Medical Center, but the other two were taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Because of the time that has passed since the accident, The Observer is unable to get further details on how badly they were hurt.

Jordan, who the GSP said was not wearing a seatbelt, had a complaint of injury too, and she was taken to Colquitt Regional, but the one child who was not ejected was listed on the trooper’s report as being unhurt.
