Thefts
Sheriff’s Office
• Christophor Croom, 100 block Country Circle, told deputies June 24 that a purse belonging to Terri Sapp, of the same address, was taken from his SUV in the early morning hours. The purse and its contents were valued at $25.
• Gail McNeal, 100 block Mt. Zion Road, reported that 10 chickens were stolen from her coop in the 2200 block of Old Berlin Road on June 18.
• Jason Dodd, of Jesup, reported June 23 that someone took a Glock 43 9mm handgun and two pairs of Costa sunglasses from his pickup while it was parked in the 200 block of Shady Grove Road on or about May 1. The gun was valued at $500 and the sunshades at $200 each.
• Garrett and Mary Anderson, 200 block Sunset Lane, reported that someone stole several items from a vacant rental house they own in the 1700 block of Highway 133 South. Mary Anderson said everything was secure when she went there June 21, but when she returned June 24 the lock was broken on the shed and the back door of the residence had been tampered with to gain entry.
Missing were a flat-screen television, a Nintendo Wii game system, a stove, two window air conditioning units, two leaf blowers, a nail gun, AC gauges and a tower toolbox. The items were valued at a total of $3,050.
Moultrie Police
• Joy Parker, former owner of South Georgia Erosion Control, told police a former employee had stolen checks from the business, which closed last year. Two checks were passed June 12 and 13 with a total value of $718.
• Davey Barge, of Moultrie, reported a burglary in the 800 block of East Central Avenue. Electronics valued at $600, $80 in currency and $60 worth of household goods were stolen.
• Ladanza Tetrail Davis, of Moultrie, told police a 14-year-old relative took her car while she was out of town June 14-17. The boy was charged and released to his parents.
• Electronics valued at $750 were stolen during an incident at Robert Hutson Paint and Body Shop between June 15 and 17, but they were recovered, police said.
• Keiericha Burkes, of Moultrie, reported June 17 that a car belonging to Roderick Cochran of Camilla was missing. The car, a 2011 Hyundai Elantra, was valued at $7,800. Burkes gave police the name of a suspect.
• Walmart reported June 16 that $212 worth of items, mostly clothing, were taken by two women with a diaper bag.
• Shera P. Slaughter, of Moultrie, reported June 16 that someone took $85 from her purse.
• Billy Houston, 100 block Loblolly Road, reported June 14 that two bicycles were stolen from his carport. The bikes were valued at a total of $200.
• Shakilya Jones, of Moultrie, told officers June 14 that someone stole $100 from her backpack while she was at E-Z Wash Coin Laundry, 903 N. Main St. She said she’d stepped outside to retrieve items from her car when the theft occurred.
• Valerie Jeanne Key, of Moultrie, reported June 14 that she received $40 in change at the self-checkout in Walmart, but she walked away without it. When she realized and went back for it, it was gone.
• Moultrie Trading Post, 420 First Ave. S.E., reported the theft of electronics valued at $1,905 on June 14.
• Jermaine Devante Moore, of Stone Mountain, told police he was playing basketball on the outdoor courts at the Moultrie YMCA, 601 26th Ave. S.E., the evening of June 20. When it started to rain, everyone grabbed their belongings and left. Moore said when he went to get his property, his keys were missing. He later found his house keys, but his vehicle key was gone.
• Johannah Christy Jones, 1400 block Ninth Street Southwest, reported June 23 that someone took $18 in cash and her debit card from her residence between June 20 and the time of report.
Fraud
Sheriff’s Office
• Darrell Harris, 400 block Brice Street, Berlin, told deputies June 20 that he had gotten an online job. His first paycheck came in, for $6,848.37. When he cashed it, he was supposed to send $5,000 to a third party, and he did so.
The check he’d cashed was no good.
Harris said he received a second check from his “employer,” this one for $4,979.26, but the bank rejected it.
Property damage
Moultrie Police
• Shonda D. McBride, 800 block Shy Manor Drive, reported June 23 that a man she knows broke the window of her apartment.
• Gary Hayes, 1100 block Third Street Southeast, reported June 20 that someone had kicked the side door of his residence sometime in the last two weeks. Damage was estimated at $250, but police said no entry was made to the residence.
• Glenda Cooper, of Tifton, told police June 17 that someone broke into a house she owns in the 1000 block of Fifth Avenue Southeast. All of the exterior door knobs were broken off in an attempt to get in, and entry was finally made by breaking a window. Nothing appeared to be missing, she said. The break-in was discovered June 17 but could have happened as far back as May 1, the police report said.
