Minor fire extinguished at Cox Elementary School

- Moultrie firefighters quickly extinguished a fire in the kitchen of Cox Elementary School Saturday. The cause was a short in the wires of a portable ice cream freezer, a fire official said.
MOULTRIE, Ga. — Moultrie firefighters put out a fire in Cox Elementary School’s kitchen Saturday afternoon.
A fire captain on scene said wires in a portable ice cream freezer shorted out.
A fire alarm notified the Moultrie Fire Department about 5:30 p.m. Nothing was immediately visible when firefighters arrived, but during their investigation, they spotted smoke inside the building.
Once firefighters got inside, they quickly extinguished the fire.
