Colquitt County Career Achievement Award seeks nominations

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Over the years, the community has recognized the careers of eight people educated in Colquitt County with the Colquitt County Career Achievement Award. All eight have achieved significant success in their careers after leaving here.
Organizers of the award are now looking for more nominees for the award going forward.
Previous recipients include:
• Dr. J. Wayne Littles, a top official at NASA.
• Dr. Terry T. Turner, research scientist and professor at the University of Virginia.
• Dr. David R. McElroy, professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
• Owen Arthur Smith, internationally acclaimed classical guitarist.
• Bob Alligood, president of an international engineering firm.
• Dr. Reatha Clark King, university president and president of the General Mills Foundation.
• Dr. Charles D. Williams, honored with highest award of the American College of Radiology.
• Peter F. Sayeski, president of McGraw-Hill publishing company’s Learning Center Group.
Each honoree has addressed students at Colquitt County High School and attendees at an evening banquet at which the award was presented.
In addition, two deceased citizens have received special recognition: Willam Frank McCall, an architect honored as a Fellow by the American Institute of Architecture, and Diadorius Boudleaux Bryant, who with his wife Felice was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Nomination forms can be picked up at the Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce and returned there with a basic biography of the nominee.
