MOULTRIE, Ga. — The Magnolia Garden Club had an exciting adventure when they visited the Gentian Creek Preserve near Ochlocknee recently.

Jerry and Marta Turner invited the club to visit their 200-acre preserve. The ladies rode in golf carts  and toured the preserve of natural habitat of birds, ducks, turtles, bobcats, turkey, deer, coyotes, fox, raccoons, eagles, and many wild flowers, trees and lakes. Jerry had cameras located all along the route to catch pictures  of the animals in their natural habitat.

On the tour, we visited the Wild Carrot Farm with Denise Mullitt.  This is an organic  garden farm.  She grows natural vegetables, herbs, cucumbers, produces passion fruit and flowers. She sells her vegetables at Relish Exotic and Specialty store in downtown Thomasville.  She gave us a sample of the cucumbers and it was delicious.

After a delicious lunch provided by Joyce Berg and Lu Clark,  the group  enjoyed movies made by Jerry, who is a photographer.  He has made many  movies of  the animals on their preserve. Thanks to the Turners for a delightful, educational and fun day.

Those attending were Ruby Bowermeister, Lorena Barhite, Faye Rowe,  Joyce Berg, Judy Wynn, Lu Clark, Zoe Campbell, Mary Phillips, Shirley Mims and Grace O’Kelley.

Magnolia Garden Club will not meet in June.  July is our picnic and will be at the Catfish House at Reed Bingham.
