“Engine Six arrived on scene in less than five minutes,” firefighters said. “Engine Six’s crew found smoke on the fourth floor with sprinkler system activation.”

The sprinkler system extinguished a small kitchen fire on the fourth floor, according to the VFD report. Firefighters stayed on scene to help with removing water and control utilities.

The hotel accommodated the occupants from the damaged units, according to the VFD report.

Seventeen VFD personnel responded.

Unattended cooking is considered the cause of the fire, according to the VFD.

The 84-room hotel is designed for extended stays, according to a past story in The Valdosta Daily Times. The hotel opened in early 2018.
