THOMASVILLE, Ga. — The job fair to be conducted by a new industry has been rescheduled for late June.
Check-Mate Manufacturing will conduct a job fair from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, June 22, at Building A, Room 132, at Southern Regional Technical College.
“We’re looking to hire about 50 people to begin with. Over the next five years, we will be growing the business and hire more than 230,” said Naomi Stifler, company human resources director, who is recruiting in Thomasville.
Those attending the job fair should bring a resume.
“We’ll have about six people working that,” Stifler said.
Applicants must have earned a high school diploma or GED and have manufacturing backgrounds in production, quality, shipping and receiving, assembly and maintenance.
Georgia Department of Labor representatives will screen resumes for qualifications and assess skills. Those with desired skills and qualifications will be interviewed later via phone by Department of Labor employees.
Production will begin in August at the former Caterpillar building on the west bypass. The company manufactures firearm magazines and medical tools, among other products.
Stifler said the local labor department office has received 100 to 125 resumes submitted for Check-Mate Manufacturing jobs.
“I’ve been screening them for the last couple of weeks,” Stifler said.
All resumes submitted at the job fair, at the labor department and on the company’s website will be reviewed.
