MOULTRIE, Ga. — Felicia Richardson’s 10th Grade Accelerated Students finished their year with a Community Service Learning Project. Students were broken into groups and asked to choose a non-profit community service organization to represent; they were then responsible for researching this organization and preparing a persuasive presentation that was given to their class.

After CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) and The Yellow Elephant were chosen by their peers through an intense presentation process, Richardson’s students got right to work planning and preparing for “Play with a Purpose” — the third annual Teachers vs. Students Basketball game at C. A. Gray Junior High School. Students worked diligently to plan, advertise, and prepare for the event with Richardson only helping as needed.

The event raised over $1,700 to be donated to The Yellow Elephant Movement and CASA.

The game was held on Wednesday, May 15 in the C.A. Gray gym. Anticipation was high for the game since the year before ended in a tie. After four long periods and one overtime, the students tied it up with a buzzer beater 3-point shot from Montana Edwards. With no more time left, the two teams had to settle on yet another tie. Who will break the tie in 2020?
