Moultrians receive GFB Scholarships for Agriculture

MACON, Ga. – Kirk Beacham and Morgan Hart of Moultrie are recipients of the 2019 Georgia Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture Scholarships. Beacham has been selected to receive a $3,000 scholarship for graduating high school seniors. Hart is receiving a $2,000 scholarship as a rising senior at UGA.

The scholarships recognize outstanding students pursuing college degrees in agriculture or an ag-related degree at a college in the University System of Georgia, Berry College or Emmanuel College.

Beacham, the son of Stacey and Denise Beacham, plans to attend Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College this fall to study agricultural engineering. He has been a FFA member since 2012. While attending Colquitt County High School, he served as president and vice president of the school’s FFA chapter. He was also Georgia FFA Area 5 secretary, vice president and president. Beacham won state FFA awards for prepared public speaking, agricultural electrification, and lawnmower operations/maintenance. He was a bronze finalist in the National FFA prepared public speaking competition.

Hart, the son of David and Kelly Hart, is majoring in agricultural education at the UGA College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences. He is a member of the UGA Collegiate FFA and UGA Block & Bridle Clubs. He was a member of the Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers Club while attending ABAC from 2016-2018. He is a past Georgia FFA vice president.

“The GFB Scholarship for Agriculture is one of the ways Georgia Farm Bureau contributes to the development of the future leaders of Georgia Agriculture,” said GFB President Gerald Long. “We’re excited to help them prepare for their careers in agriculture.”

Founded in 1937, Georgia Farm Bureau is the state’s largest general farm organization. As a membership-driven, nongovernment organization, GFB serves as the voice of Georgia farmers and rural Georgia by advocating for them on legislative issues and promoting Georgia crops. GFB membership is open to the public and offers a wide variety of benefits, including insurance and discounts for health, travel and entertainment services. Enrollment in any of the member benefits is optional and not a requirement for membership.
