THOMASVILLE — A “highly-intoxicated” suspect bit a police officer and spit on four officers Saturday night at an apartment complex, a Thomasville Police Department commander said.

Police responded to a Villa North apartment at 10:45 p.m., after multiple 911 hang-up calls. A woman unlocked the door.

Hakeem Rashood Hasty, 27, Villa North, walked out of the apartment and yelled racial profanities at officers, an incident report states.

Attempts to de-escalate the situation failed. Hasty spit on and struck officers, said Lt. Toby Knifer, TPD Criminal Investigations Division commander.

Knifer said a combative Hasty bit an officer on the arm, breaking the skin.

After a struggle, Hasty was handcuffed and placed in a patrol unit, where he kicked and damaged a door, the commander said.

The suspect is charged with four felony counts of obstructing or hindering law enforcement, four counts of felony terroristic threats and acts, felony interference with government property, simple battery against a peace officer, battery against a peace officer and disorderly conduct.

At midnight Sunday, officers patrolling in the 600 block of North Boulevard heard someone screaming in a room at the Motor Inn.

Knifer said Page Lashawn Jackson, 21, walked aggressively from the apartment and appeared to be attempting to flee. When told to stop, Jackson walked closer to the officer and pointed her finger in his face, an incident report states.

When the officer attempted to handcuff Jackson, she grabbed him and attempted to tussle, according to the report.

Other officers arrived, and Jackson was handcuffed. As she was being taken to a patrol car, the suspect spit on an officer, the report states.

The woman in the Motor Inn room told police that when she told Jackson to leave, the suspect burst a window in the room.

Jackson, 301 N. Stephens St., is charged with simple battery on a police officer, obstruction, public drunkness and criminal trespass with damage.
