Hose to speak at Men’s Day Sunday

MOULTRIE, Ga. — On Sunday, May 5, at 3 p.m., the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church family and its pastor, the Rev. Alfred Jones, will host its annual Men’s Day Celebration. The theme for this year’s program is “Fear Nothing When You Fear God.”

The event will be at the church, 431 Sixth Ave. N.W.

The speaker will be Colquitt County native Keith Hose.

Hose was an honor graduate of both Colquitt County High School and Albany State University. He signed a national academic scholarship, the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship, to attend ASU, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in health, physical education and recreation with a minor in chemistry and biology as well as dual master’s degrees in health, physical education and recreation and educational leadership, supervision and administration.

 Currently, Hose serves as the principal of the Maceo A. Horne Learning Center of Valdosta City Schools and as a board member for the State of Georgia’s Association of Alternative Education. His previous educational experiences include teacher and basketball coach in Colquitt County School System, assistant principal and athletic director in Mitchell County Schools, principal in Thomasville City Schools, as well as adjunct professor of Brewton–Parker College and Albany State University. He is the visionary of the Ambassadors Program, The Male League & Big Brother Program, and the AIMS program.

Hose has been recognized for achievement and his charismatic servant leadership style while being the recipient of numerous awards for his services and commitment to education and the community. He has been the recipient of The MLK DREAM AWARD, a 1996 Olympic Torchbearer, The ASU Successful Story Student, and the 40 under 40 Award, but he takes greater pride in his walk with Christ, his fellowshipping with family and friends as well as bonding with the brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

Hose accepted the call to spread and share the Word and serves as board chairman of St. Luke CME Church, stewards president of the Albany-Thomasville District and chairman of the St. Luke’s Men’s Ministry. He is an active member GAE, GAEL and the NAACP. He has served in several capacities in Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity within the Albany (GA) Alumni Chapter which includes polemarch, vice polemarch, keeper of records, membership intake chair, and Kappa League advisor as well as chairman of the Reclamation and Nominations Committees of the Southeastern Province.  

Hose is the son of Ron and Vickie Keys; the husband to a loving wife, Deatrice M. Hose; the father of Kalan Ahmad Hose; and the brother of Kenneth, Shaconda and Tambrest.     

The Men’s Auxiliary extends a special invitation especially to all men and women as well to come and share in this occasion.
