MOULTRIE, Ga. — Georgia Cities Week gives cities an opportunity to share information about the valuable services they provide to residents and how cities positively impact residents’ quality of life.
On Thursday, representatives of the Moultrie Police Department, Moultrie Fire Department and the city public works team showed kids what goes into making Moultrie what it is today. There were demonstrations and question-and-answer sessions.
This specific event has been going on for about eight years now according to Downtown Economic Development Director Amy Johnson, who said she loves this event because it gives children a chance to see things they don’t usually get to see.
“The city offers many services to its citizens, and it’s important for our youth to understand the services that are provided,” Johnson said. “Police, fire, garbage, utilities, engineering, water, sewer and we even have something called power town to show kids safety when it comes to electricity, just a lot of things that we have to show our youth.”
Johnson also said that if you want your school to be a part of it next year the city can accommodate you, either at your school or downtown. To sign up for next year’s event or for more information contact Johnson at (229) 890-5455.
