- Kirk Beacham of Colquitt County will be campaigning to become a state officer of the FFA this weekend at the state convention.
MOULTRIE, Ga. — The Colquitt County FFA Chapter will travel to the 91st Georgia FFA State Convention in Macon Thursday through Saturday.
Students will have the opportunity to celebrate accomplishments of their fellow members and practice their skills of premier leadership, personal growth, and career success with this year’s theme of “Just One.”
This year two students have been named South Region Stars because of their Supervised Agricultural Experience projects. Garrett Griner was named the South Region Star in Agricultural Placement and Kaitlyn Hart was named the South Region Star in Agribusiness. Both students will be recognized on stage for their accomplishments.
Kirk Beacham is representing the Colquitt County FFA Chapter as a state officer candidate for the Georgia FFA Association. If elected, Beacham will represent the state of Georgia as a state officer for a one year term. He will travel around the state meeting with FFA members from different chapters and advocate for FFA members and the agricultural industry.
Four Colquitt County FFA members — Mary Logan Tostenson, Mitchell Riley, John Vance Livingston and Kaitlyn Hart — have been named state finalists with their agricultural proficiency project. Agricultural Proficiencies are based off of a student’s Supervised Agricultural Experience Project, which a student completes outside of the classroom that is related to agriculture. All four will interview this weekend in their designed proficiency area.
Chase Willis will represent the Colquitt County FFA as a Foundation Ambassador. Willis will meet with sponsors, donors and university professors as well as have the opportunity to advocate for the agriculture industry and Georgia FFA members.
Mitchell Riley will compete in the Prepared Public Speaking CDE. He has competed at the sub-area and area level competition, which have advanced him to compete at the state level. Riley will give a 6-8 minute speech over an important agricultural topic.
