Schools to close Friday; county offices will delay opening

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Offices of the Colquitt County government will delay their openings Friday due to expected bad weather. The county clerk issued the following statement a few minutes ago.

“Due to anticipated severe weather, all county administrative offices will observe a delayed opening of 10:00 a.m. tomorrow, April 19, 2019.

“Non – administrative offices will observe normal schedules.

“Please check our Facebook page for updates and important information regarding this impending weather event.”

MOULTRIE, Ga. — The Colquitt County School System will close schools Friday due to an incoming storm system.

A severe thunderstorm is predicted to be affecting Colquitt County during the morning hours Friday, the school system said in a press release. Damaging wind, hail, and tornadoes are possible. Power outages are likely, as well. 
“After consulting with Emergency Management Director Russell Moody,” School Superintendent Doug Howell said, “I have determined that it is in the best interest of student and staff safety to close schools on Friday, April 19th.”
Both the schools and school offices will be closed.
At about the same time, Thomas University announced it would also close Friday due to the weather threat.
