Teen killed, two injured in Adel shooting

ADEL — One teen was killed and two others wounded in a shooting early Sunday, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

At about 12:50 a.m., Adel police were called out to The Stage, 105 W. First St., on a report of shots fired, according to a GBI statement. Officers found a large crowd fleeing the area.

A 19-year-old was found in the parking lot of a nearby business with a gunshot wound, the statement said. 

A second gunshot victim, Emmanuel Whitehead, 18, was found in a nearby convenience store, according to the GBI. 

 A juvenile was later identified as a third gunshot victim.

Whitehead died at SGMC; his body will be transported to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Macon for autopsy, according to the GBI. 

The 19-year-old was transported to South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta before being transferred to Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla., the statement said. 

The juvenile victim suffered a minor injury and was released, according to the GBI.
