Moultrie library offers many activities in April

MOULTRIE, Ga. — April is an exciting month at the Moultrie-Colquitt County Library. There are many activities for all ages.
April 1-5, Spring Break Week in the Children’s Den. The library will host several special activities as well as a few of their regular programs. These events are free. No registration required. For more information call 229-985-6540.
Thursday, April 4: Pretend Prom, 11 a.m.-noon. Celebrate spring break at the library with dancing, crafts, bubbles, and balloons. Fancy dress and/or book-themed costumes are encouraged. Spring Break Ukulele Workshop for Beginners, 3-4 p.m. Would you like to learn a musical instrument? The ukulele is a great place to start! This beginner workshop will teach your child basics like the parts of the ukulele, how to hold the ukulele, strumming, and a few basic chords. Best for children ages 5 and up. Ukuleles provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own. This program is made possible by a grant from the Georgia Music Foundation.
Friday, April 5: Make & Take Perler Bead Ornaments, 10 a.m.-noon: Perler Beads come in so many delightful colors and are great for developing hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. In this fun activity, we will design our own ornaments. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory Interactive Movie, 3-4:30 p.m. Join us for an interactive screening of the classic movie. We’ll sing, wave scarves, blow bubbles, eat candy, and more right along with the movie! It’s your golden ticket to spring break fun!

Baby Bees, Mondays at 10:30 a.m. is a gentle StoryTime experience featuring books, songs, rhymes, scarves, shakers, and puppets for young children ages 0-2 years in the library.
Preschool Pandas, April 12 and Apr 26, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Children ages 3 and up enjoy stories, songs, rhymes, activities, and more!
Storytime360, April 19, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Join us for an ocean themed storytime followed by an amazing 360-degree view of the ocean and its creatures! Featuring SMALLab, courtesy of ABM.
Activities planned primarily for adults include:
Walk Georgia Kick-Off, Wednesday, April 4 10-11 a.m. Do you sow seeds or pound pavement? Join the Moultrie Library and the UGA Cooperative Extension Service as they partner to sponsor a group in this free web-based program designed to encourage physical activity through accountability and community. During this first session, Katheryn Holland will explain the program and guide the group in completing individual registration forms online. Laptops will be provided for this session.
2nd Tuesday Brown Bag Book Club will meet on April 9 from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Every month, the group has a theme, and members are usually expected (not required, of course!) to read a book that fits that theme. This April the theme is biography, fictional or nonfiction. Everyone is encouraged to share any book they have read and enjoyed.
Second Tuesday Library Crafters will meet on Tuesday, April 9, at 6 p.m. This month, crafters will enjoy creating bunnies made of wooden blocks and then painting them. This group is perfect for the casual crafter who enjoys doing something new each month. Activities are designed for adults but children third grade and up may attend with a parent. Each participant will be asked to pay a $5 fee for supplies for each craft. Reservations are required. Call the library at 229-985-6540 to reserve a seat. Seats are limited.
2nd Saturday Game Day for Adults will be held on April 13 from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Join fellow Hand and Foot lovers for an afternoon of fun. Stop by and get in the game! If you don’t know how to play, we’ll be glad to teach you. It’s easy! The session is free.
Job Fair GA Department of Corrections, Tuesday, April 16, 9 a.m.-noon. Representatives will be here to talk with anyone interested in working for the state in the corrections system. Please bring copies of the following documents: Completed State of GA Application (Blank Copies available on site); Valid Driver’s License; Birth Certificate; Social Security Card; HS Diploma/GED transcript & certificate; DD –214; SAT/ACT/Compass/Asset/Accuplacer Scores.
