JENNINGS, Fla. — A Jennings firefighter was charged with careless driving following an accident involving a firetruck on Interstate 75 Tuesday night.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a marked Jennings Fire Department firetruck, driven by 29-year-old John Dill, of Jasper, was traveling north on I-75 in the left lane around 10:30 p.m.
The report states the firetruck’s emergency lights were activated but the rear lights were inoperable.
According to FHP, a Honda Odyssey, driven by Hai Huynh, a 41-year-old from LaGrange, Ga., was traveling behind the fire truck.
The report states the fire truck crossed over into the middle lane to make a wide left turn to use the emergency U-turn and caused the car to strike the left side of the truck.
Jennings Town Manager George Glover said Wednesday morning that the fire truck’s rear lights were working prior to the accident, when the car struck the truck in the driver side door area.
Dill was charged with careless driving.
Huynh nor his four passengers were injured.
