White Springs man charged in relative’s death

WHITE SPRINGS, Fla. — A White Springs man has been charged in the stabbing death of his relative almost a year later.

Thaddeous Marquis McClellan, 35, was charged with negligent manslaughter-killing a human other than by murder or homicide on March 19 after the case appeared before a grand jury.

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call was received on April 19, 2018, in reference to a disturbance involving a knife.

The report states two subjects were found laying on the floor of a bedroom with stab wounds.

According to the HCSO, 25-year-old Shanice Breona McKenzie was pronounced deceased at the scene.

McClellan was transported to Shands Lake Shore Regional Medical Center in Lake City for stab wounds to his chest. According to the HCSO, McKenzie had 13 stab wounds on her body.

The report states, witnesses heard McKenzie telling McClellan to leave her alone and let her sleep while she was in her grandmother’s bedroom.

Sheriff Harrell Reid said due to both McClellan and McKenzie having stab wounds, it was inconclusive who started the altercation.
